Chip technology has changed tremendously in the past few years, Diodes Incorporated has produced a new LED controller or driver known as AL1692 which act as a platform for triac-dimmable LED lamps. These are chips that include four internal MOSFET versions which allow drive lamps to be powered from 3W to 13W with a low-cost and a compact PCB size.
Also on the other hand the chip that includes an external MOSFET can power drive lamps, LED lamps and LED driver with power up to 25W. Having said that, the LED controller or driver AL1692 has been designed to provide a high power and a low total harmonic distortion to work on the triac-dimmable LED lighting applications. This was also designed to meet the standards of National Electrical Manufactures Association (NEMA) and Solid State Lighting (SSL).
LED lamps and LED drivers have become very dominant now a day for their high power and clarity, they are utilized in TVs, computer screens, car lights and many other countless applications. The AL1692 was designed to be compatible with LED lamps and almost put an end to auxiliary winding with their accurate current output which makes sure that the current load is accurate.
There is also some safety features that will be of handy in case of an open or short circuit, over heating protection, under-voltage lockout, leading edge blanking, cycle by cycle over-current protection and thermal fold-back protection.
